Christmas in Your Office: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The festive season is almost upon us, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Christmas trees, gifts, good food and good company are all fantastic parts of the December period. However, there’s a darker side…

Waste.

Every year, the Christmas season produces huge amounts of waste, much of which simply ends up in Sydney landfills.

Whilst plenty of this waste comes from homes, offices also produce their fair share. Therefore, it’s so important that we reduce, reuse and recycle everything possible.

Reduce

The first step when tackling waste is to reduce our use.

For instance, we can take measures to reduce the amount of wrapping paper that we use, as well as cardboard, plastic and food.

By thinking ahead and avoiding gifts with too much plastic or wrapping, we can reduce our impact on the environment.

On top of that, less waste can mean less money spent on waste removal!

Reuse

If you’re unable to reduce the amount of waste, the next step is to reuse it.

When it comes to Christmas time, reusing wrapping (both paper and plastic), as well as Christmas cards, boxes and other containers, is an excellent result.

It prevents these materials ending up in landfill, or even a recycling plant, which still produces emissions during the recycling process.

Moreover, by reusing these materials next festive season, you’ll ultimately be saving money.

Recycle

The third stage should be to recycle materials where possible.

For example, paper products like wrapping, boxes and containers should all be responsibly recycled.

It’s likely your office will have particular bins for paper products, so make sure your staff do use them.

Alternatively, a professional waste removal company can come and collect your waste for you, and take it to a recycling plant.
